General Internships
How the Selection Process Works
Applicants may select and prioritize the positions they wish to be considered for, thus choosing their own routing path through the selection process. Applications are routed electronically to department coordinators to review, conduct interviews and make selections. If an application moved through all of the applicant's designated departments without being selected, it is forwarded to a general queue where all department coordinators may review the application. This affords applicants the maximum opportunity to secure an OPIC internship.
Upon submission, applicants are sent an email acknowledging receipt of their application. Applicants are also emailed each time their application moves to another department for review.
Because OPIC cannot pay travel expenses, face-to-face interviews are not required; interviews are conducted by phone.
Once a selection is made the Intern Program Coordinator makes an official offer (via email or telephone) and also sends a formal written offer to the selected intern. The selection process is ongoing; therefore, candidates are selected throughout the application period. If OPIC does not contact you within a reasonable time, you may assume that you were not selected.
Note: (Applicants for legal internships are reviewed exclusively by the Legal Affairs Department, and must use a different application form.)
