World Trade Center Utah Executive Vice President & COO Elizabeth Goryunova joins Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) Director of Public Affairs Dr. Larry Spinelli at an Expanding Horizons seminar for Utah’s small businesses.
OPIC’s Expanding Horizons seminar met up with small business owners in Salt Lake City on July 10 to help educate them on how to take advantage of investment and financing resources available though the U.S. Government. OPIC has had success working with Utah small businesses throughout its 41-year history; providing over $62.2 million in financing and political risk insurance commitments to projects sponsored by Utah companies, which in turn have generated an estimated $57 million in U.S. exports and 232 U.S. jobs. Utah suppliers are also estimated to provide $11.2 million worth of goods and services to OPIC-committed projects – supporting 24 jobs in Utah.
At the seminar, OPIC announced World Trade Center Utah (WTCUtah) as the newest member of OPIC’s Partners Program, a public diplomacy initiative designed to expand knowledge of OPIC’s role as the U.S. Government’s development finance institution.
Through the Partners Program, OPIC works with selected trade, business and foreign policy organizations nationwide to increase public knowledge of OPIC’s work. By utilizing the resources of geographically-diverse organizations with different memberships, information about OPIC is disseminated to a larger audience.
WTCUtah will join the eighteen other national and regional organizations that are members of the program.
OPIC’s Expanding Horizons workshop and seminars have educated more than 2,500 small and medium-sized business owners across the United States about OPIC products and services. Since 2006, OPIC has held Expanding Horizons events in Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, Houston, San Francisco, Boston, St. Louis, Denver, Philadelphia, Orange (CA), Raleigh, Salt Lake City, Seattle, New Orleans, and New York City.
