On June 6, U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan Karl Eikenberry attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the construction site of the Kabul Marriott, a project backed by an OPIC loan.
The project, which represents one of the largest private-sector investments in Afghanistan to date, has created more than 1,000 local jobs.
The five-star hotel is expected to open in late 2012.
