OPIC in Ohio: Helping local businesses expand into emerging markets
On August 18, OPIC will be hosting its Expanding Horizons small business seminar in Cincinnati, Ohio – one of many states where OPIC has a long and successful track record of helping American small businesses gain access to emerging markets. Since 1994, the year OPIC began compiling state data, OPIC has committed $1.4 billion in insurance and financing to help local businesses in Ohio invest overseas. These projects have supported over 439 American jobs and more than $178 million in procurement of goods and services from Ohio suppliers.
In Georgia, a country that is rebuilding from a turbulent past, an OPIC loan is being used to introduce 22 restaurants franchised under the Dublin, Ohio-based Wendy's International Inc. brand. This project is using OPIC financing to help create hundreds of local jobs throughout the country, provide essential workforce skills and advanced management training to workers, and support the construction of modern infrastructure to benefit local business activity and key industries such as tourism.
