OPIC has been recognized for supporting construction of the first utility-scale power project in Indonesia, the PT UPC Sidrap Bayu Energi wind farm, which received a "Smart Project" citation for Best Practices from Project Finance International (PFI). The recognition highlights successfully structured and executed infrastructure projects in the Asia-Pacific region.

Due to be completed in 2018, the 75MW wind farm, supported by $120 million in OPIC financing, will help Indonesia meet growing electricity demand, and diversify the country’s power supply. The Government of Indonesia is working to increase renewable energy generation from six percent of its total capacity 2014 to 23 percent by 2025.
