OPIC ranks Number One for Innovation in the Federal Government, second overall in “Best Places to Work” survey
The OPIC team prides itself in being a collaborative group that is committed to developing innovative solutions to supporting development around the world. These qualities were confirmed last week in a new survey that ranked OPIC Number One for Innovation in the Federal Government, and Number Two overall for Best Places to Work.
The 2016 Best Places to Work in the Federal Government from the Partnership for Public Service and Deloitte, also ranked OPIC in the top five among small agencies in almost all metrics, including Effective Leadership, Employee Skills, Strategic Management, Teamwork, and Support for Diversity.
OPIC’s commitment to all these qualities is longstanding, and has produced tangible results. We regularly listen to our clients and have in recent years introduced multiple new tools to address some of the challenges they encounter working in emerging markets. Among these are OPIC’s Portfolio for Impact, or PI program, designed to support promising impact investments that offer potential to generate both financial returns and social or environmental returns; and the Innovative Financial Intermediary, or IFIP, which supports smaller projects with atypical structures that do not fit squarely in either OPIC’s traditional financing or traditional investment funds program.
These and other innovative OPIC financing tools have enabled OPIC to provide financing to a range of projects that support a variety of small businesses -- from the agriculture sector in India to shopkeepers in Vietnam and off-grid solar providers in Africa – that are so critical to job creation and economic growth in developing countries.
