“It is in the best interest of the United States to help our businesses to invest in the global marketplace. It is good for them to be competitive and it is also good for U.S. foreign policy,” OPIC Public Affairs and Outreach Director Dr. Lawrence Spinelli told a delegation from the State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program that visited OPIC on January 30 to learn more about the ways OPIC supports American small businesses in the global economy and the way this work supports national security. “When you have economic hope in a country, people have a reason to stay,” Spinelli explained.
The State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program explores the role of businesses in driving economic development, democratization and stability around the world and the impact of U.S. small businesses on the local, regional, national and global economies.
