Meet the Women of OPIC: Marie Miller
March is National Women's History Month, a time to recognize the contributions that women have made to our nation. Everyday throughout the month of March, we will feature one of OPIC's 126 women employees in our Meet the Women of OPIC series. Learn about our diverse workforce and what inspires them to work for the Agency.
Asset Manager/Administrative Telecommunications Specialist, Department of Management and Administration/OCIO
Tell us a little about yourself:
This is my sixth year at OPIC; previously, I worked at USAID and MCC. All of my government experience has been in IT program support
What do you like best about working at OPIC?
The mission. Second to that, it's size. Compared to some larger agencies, I feel our small size allows us to be more nimble operationally and it fosters greater collaboration amongst colleagues.
How do you inspire other women?
In my youth I was often selected as a sports Team Captain. I was caught off guard by the selection, but it was first explained to me that despite being less vocal, I was recognized as a leader through my actions. Doing the best that I can is how I try to inspire others.
Will you share an interesting fact about yourself?
I love cooking. My parents had a lot of influence on my relationship with food. I also didn't eat meat for several years, which caused me to experiment with a variety of spices for flavoring purposes. Today, I enjoy preparing classic recipes to be equally as delicious, if not better, with healthier ingredients.
