Gas-fired power in Ghana:

OPIC financing and political risk insurance is supporting the construction of a 200 MW combined cycle gas turbine power plant, assisting Ghana in reaching its goal of doubling its power generating capacity to 5,000 MW. The project was recognized as African Power Deal of the Year in 2016 by Project Finance International, which recognized OPIC for playing a pivotal role in the transaction. ​​​Read more

Off-grid solutions for remote communities:

While major power plants can significantly increase access to power in urban regions, a large portion of Africa’s population lives in remote areas that lack grid access. OPIC financing to a new investment vehicle managed by San Francisco-based SunFunder supports the development of off-grid energy solutions for these communities. Read more
