Expanding Horizons Workshop Attendees Will Learn How the U.S. Government Helps Small Businesses Expand in Emerging Markets Overseas

Houston, TX – The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the U.S. government’s development finance institution, will host the 10th Anniversary of Expanding Horizons workshop in Houston, Texas, on Thursday, June 16 at the Royal Sonesta Houston.

Expanding Horizons is a unique opportunity to hear directly from U.S. Government officials about programs that support U.S. companies entering developing markets. Regional companies and entrepreneurs will learn about OPIC’s finance and insurance products and how to take advantage of the resources OPIC offers to gain access to emerging markets overseas.

Participants will have the opportunity to arrange one-on-one meetings with OPIC and other government agencies. Joining OPIC will be officials from the Small Business Administration, U.S. Trade and Development Agency, U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Export-Import Bank. Since 2006, OPIC’s Expanding Horizons workshops have educated more than 3,000 U.S. small businesses about opportunities in developing markets, presenting a full day’s agenda offering tools to enable business growth.

Supporting organizations for the event include Houston District Export Council, Women's Business Enterprise Alliance, Houston Intercontinental Chamber of Commerce, Houston West Chamber of Commerce, and the U.S. Global Leadership Council.

Since 1971, OPIC has helped U.S. businesses of all sizes expand in emerging markets, and is open for business in more than 160 countries.
